The idea for this trip came into conception when Anna and I found a sweet deal on Travelzoo (<-- free plug for Travelzoo), where we could get flights+3 nights hotel+airport transfers to Prague for 130 pounds. Being the amazing bargain hunters that we are, we couldn't refuse! :)
Prague is a perfect weekend getaway destination, especially in the summer, as we hear that the city fills up with young people ready to party. With Prague being home to the biggest club in Central Europe, Pilsner, absinthe and 1 pound beers, I'm not surprised :) Of course, Anna and I had to see for ourselves what all the fuss was about, so we went on the pub crawl. Our experience confirms that party in Prague is a two thumbs up!
The city itself is small, with a fantastic streetcar system and is very walkable. It has the classic feel and appeal of medieval Catholic European city with narrow cobblestone street, grandiose churches and city squares surrounded by cafes and restos.
What is not Prague's strong points are food and shopping. We were actually quite amazed at how expensive the shopping was, as it's comparable to shopping in London, while all the other prices including food and entertainment are 3-5 times cheaper. As for the food, it's not bad, but there's not much variety. The classic dishes comprise of meat and sauce with dumplings and sauerkraut on the side. Oh, and it goes great with beer :)
So, taking advantage of being in a historic city, we thought that it'd be fun to do a themed photoshoot (what else! hehe). It would be our themed photoshoot #2 after the brilliant idea was born in Bruges and resulted in taking pictures with every Santa Claus we could find. This time around, I bring to you our Uniforms in Prague photoshoot :D
And now, for the rest of the pictures...
Prague - view from the top
City glow by night
Astronomical clock in the main square
Castle on top of the hill (thee's a hall of mirrors inside)
Dinner at Gabriela's. This place was actually really cool as the resto is in the basement of what looks to be a 15th century house
Tasty main # 1 - guinea fowl
Tasty main # 2 - seafood spaghetti
More churches!
