96 Party Hours in Ibiza

Excitement overload - I finally got to do the trip that I wanted to do for the last 5 years - Ibiza! As a cherry on top, I got to do it with the most awesome party people I know, hence the title, 96 party hours, which I mean quite literally!

I gotta say that I was surprised (pleasantly) to find out that   people do party 24/7 in Ibiza, it is not an exaggeration. We arrived at midnight to find streets packed with girls wearing bikinis (dressed for a club at this time of the night, not the beach), and you finish your party at 8 am with a breakfast before showering and proceeding to a beach to tan/sleep/party some more. I  also found new appreciation for house music, as it turns out there are different types of house,  some of which I like and some of which I hate. Lastly, I discovered that it is in fact possible to party 7 hours straight without alcohol - it must be the 'magic' pumping Ibiza atmosphere that keeps you going hehe.

I have a feeling that I will be using the word 'party' a lot in this entry haha. We arrived at about 11 pm - prime time to get ready for a party. You can literally see the party the moment you step off the plane, as we were greeted by hot girls handing out club flyer packages right at the airport. I already mentioned that we found hundreds of people on the streets when pulling up to our hotel: girls in bikinis, dresses that might as well be bikinis, frat boy types, and normal people like us ready to party haha. Destination number one was Amnesia's foam party. I must say this night turned out to be the best club party I've ever been to. Amnesia was divided into 2 rooms: one foam party room with  hot girl dancers entertaining us through the night, and  one gay room with the more 'alternative' entertainment acts (i.e. acrobats suspended from the ceiling, catwomen and lots of PVC to name a few). We fist pumped until 6 am which is when the real fun began. They started off easy-pumping enough form to cover people's heads, but next thing we know,  sprinkles are on and foam is flowing from the ceiling until we were covered in it to the chest. Cherry on top - they switched to top 40, so the place got crazy with everyone dancing in the foam - best time ever! I'm including a link to Van's water cam video collage of the night that captured our good times! Anna and I finished the night by dining on some spaghetti and chicken at 8 am before retreating for a restful 3 hour sleep hehe.

The  next day was spent tanning in the beautiful Ibiza weather - 30 degrees and perfect sunshine. We were staying in party central i.e. Playa de Bossa, so we were 'treated' to music blasting from 9 am to 5 am from the dj booth downstairs. This is what I mean when I say that the party is 24/7-it just moves from the beach to the club back to the beach. We decided to go to San Antonio to watch the sunset over dinner, which was to be our pre-party plan. The night turned out to be even better than we hoped - not only did we get to eat overlooking the sunset and oogling at hot models walking around and handing out merchandise to promote the clubs, but we ended up accidentally stumbling on an awesome DJ, Laidback Luke, giving a private performance at the beach club before headlining a party at Amnesia. It was awesome to watch him and we even got to take a pic with him. Totally am following him on Twitter and FB now hehe. I recommend to check him out! Anna and I decided to take it easy while the other went back to Amnesia for the Cream party. I say take it easy but we actually ended up walking and chilling on the strip until 3 am. We needed the 4 extra hours of sleep to be in good shape for next day adventure to the pretty island of Formentera.

The next day was all about getting away from the house music blasting Ibiza and visit the tranquil neighbouring isle. Formentera is about 30 min boat ride from Ibiza, however, we decided to cheap out on the boat (on top of missing one too) and pay half the price to get there in twice as long time. The boat 'drive' there was quite pretty - you pass a myriad of rocky islands with pretty lighthouses, and some ports to dozens of yachts (those must be  the exclusive rich people's islands) before you reach Formentera's quaint and quiet harbour town that is your gateway to the beach. We had brunch at a local resto with beautiful sea views before heading to the furthest end of the island, as we were told that the further you go, the nicer the beaches get. The beach was very nice and crowded with hot Spanish people, and the water was warm and blue (a contrast to the beaches in Ibiza).

Having re-energized ourselves lounging on the beach, it was time for another full night of party at Space - the largest club in Ibiza. This night was a big one too because circa 40 Aussies (and a couple of honorary Aussie Brits) were flying in that night  to join us. Spotting our craziest frames and taking pix with Playboy models along the way, we made our way through streets full of partying people to Space. I have to say that Space was my fave club in terms of music and energy - it was really easy to lose track of time and party until 6 am. Other highlights  included  seeing Faithless perform life, Anna almost losing her foot to a glass cut (I say this bit in a traditional 'Anna' exaggerated way lol), 8 euro Fantas, reuniting with the Aussies and actually getting some sleep.

The next day started as usual, with a visit to the beach where we brunched on seafood paella. It was our last party day and night, so we decided to go big by doing 2 parties - an evening beach party at Ushuaia and a night Hed Kandi party at Es Paradis. We hit up Ushuaia right after the beach, in our bathing suits and all. By the time we left, we were the most under- and un- dressed people there, which was both fun and hilarious. Ushuaia is a beautiful beach club with a stunning pool (that is unfortunately not for swimming), and pumping house beats. We lost track of time and had to rush home to get ready for the next party. In the scurry of things, we lost 2 fellow partiers to alcohol and had to leave them behind hehe (not naming any names here, but everybody knows! :p ). Es Paradis   turned out to be another wicked night and also one of the coolest and most beautiful clubs I've ever been to. It had a central stadium style dance floor, so that people can stand and dance on different levels while seeing everybody else around them. Above the dance floor is an elevated platform where the hottest girls I've ever seen in my life do live performances: we had hot girls dancers dressed in all sorts of crazy outfits (incl. roller-skates), acrobats and contortionist performing tricks suspended from the ceiling or while trapped in a giant snow globe, a live performer, a cross dresser, and a hot blonde playing the sax to the tune of the beats. The rest of the club was decorated with moons and lips and unicorns and shoe structures and even a stripper pole inside a gazebo - all random and quirky things to be used as stages for performers or just for the audience's general amusement. They were also doing glitter tattoos, so of course Anna and I just had to get our faces painted (check out those pix).  All in all, another fun night full of hilarious incident, concluded by a 6 am visit to Pepe's for some delish kebabs and best fries I've had in years.

Sadly, Sunday was our last day, and we made the best of our last few hours on the beach by renting 'water car' - a glorified neon yellow and orange pedal boats with a slide. With Vi and I as tireless drivers, we embarked on our water slide journey with Van, Andy, Jenn and Anna on board, picking up random passengers along the way and playing water bumper cars with other sliders. We almost lost Van twice - once was when he volunteered to pedal and began to get out of breath and make funny noises after about 3 minutes. And the second time when he spotted hot Amnesia girls walking along the beach to promote the club. He swam tirelessly to shore and ran after them to take pictures. LOL Van. Our stay in Ibiza was finished off with a big 'family' seaside resto Sunday dinner aka Jersey Shore style.
And for now, check out our party recap in pictures :)

Taking Dublin by Storm

Continuing the pattern of going on girls trip, moi and my lovely partner in crime, Tiana decided to do a girly getaway to Dublin. In return, Dublin delivered a perfect girls' trip filled with shopping, great food, socializing and partying (of course!)

We arrived to Dublin at 10 pm - perfect time to get to your hotel, pretty up, and start the night! We sampled 2 clubs that evening: Krystal, and 'the one right next to it but I can't remember the name' (as I refer to it hehe). I found the Dublin nightlife a lot more relaxed compared to London in terms of both club appearance and how people dress to impress. Krystal was supposed to be one of the snooty clubs, and it did in fact proof to be very snooty with respect to service, but quite regular by all other standards. We wrapped up at 3 and called it an early night.

The next day was all about recharging with some shopping and sightseeing. The weather gods were on our side, and though it was supposed to rain all weekend, we got an absolutely beautiful sunny morning and just a couple of sporadic rain showers in the evening. It was actually kind of convenient because we used the rainy time as an excuse to pop into a pub (the Auld Dubliner) for a tasty lunch with some live musical entertainment, or spend half an hour in the biggest souvenir shop I've ever seen lol. I was surprised to see a lot of art dealers in Dublin, and good and cheap ones at that! We drove by a park that had its whole perimeter surrounded with artists' stalls for all tastes. Perhaps I had my eyes open for this because I just moved and am looking for decoration pieces! I would have to say that our sightseeing day turned into 20% sightseeing and 80% shopping, but the sightseeing is not huge in Dublin - Christ Church Cathedral (just a cathedral), the Dublin castle (under construction), the Temple Bar area (now that was fun and happening) and the Guinness Storehouse (that we never got to lol).

Our night #2 started with a fantastic steak dinner at Marco Pierre White - the youngest UK chef to receive a Michelin star. I truly thought that this place was on par with the Palm and Gaucho in London, with with a side of extra good service (i.e. complimentary champagne for waiting, how can you not be pleased with that). After dinner we set off to the neighbouring Cafe en Seine - a great 'grab a drink' place as it was described to us...but we did not expect a 3 storey wickedly decorated bar with a dance floor where we ended up staying until pretty much the morning. It was a hilarious night out and we learned that too many people in Ireland like to dance with their elbows - never seen so many aggressive dancers in one place in my life! hehe.

Sadly, Sunday was time to go home :( The weather has turned for the worst (i.e. +12 and wind and rain...i.e. typical Ireland/UK summer) anyways, so it was our cue to leave. Here are our adventures in pix!

No Boys Allowed

My second trip in June was an especially fun, because it was a no-boys-allowed girls' trip to Cornwall with my 5 partners in crime: Anna, Bela, Jen, Jessie and Vi.

I gotta say that girl trips are the absolute best: you never run out of snacks and drinks because everybody always worries about having enough snacks and drinks, you end up eating A LOT of yummy things and everybody is always up for sharing dessert, and nobody complains about you taking too long to get ready hehe.

We took the night train from London into Truro, the 'capital' of Cornwall and our home base. The day started with stuffing our faces (naturally) on the local delicacy, the Cornish Pasty, a flaky pie stuffed with all sorts of meat, cheese and veggie goodies. This was just perfect energy source for our upcoming 16 mile 6 hour bike adventure! Cornwall is known for its picturesque country side that takes you through fields, farms and quaint little villages. We opted for a trail that would do all that with the west coast and its beaches being our destination point. I think that our adventure is best described in the pix below, because pix are better than 1000 words, but it went something like this:

Learning how to do right hand turns and breaking without flipping over - mastering the bike - getting stuck on going uphill - terrifying speed crazy ride downhill - pub break - getting lost and finding a very obscure way back onto the trail - finding Cornish clotted cream factory - 20 picture breaks - reaching the coast!

All in all, 6 brave girls started the bike trail and 4 girls ended up finishing it. 2 girls, who shall remain unnamed, got beaten by the hills and opted to take cabs back. And no, I wasn't one of them hehe.

Our evening got kicked off with a getting ready party (naturally). We stayed at a bed and breakfast and managed to have it all to ourselves (almost), so we could have some fun with the latest and greatest trend accessory - stick on moustaches hehe. It was then time for some sea food (once again, naturally) and dancing. Unfortunately we never made it to dancing because there was an incident with one of the girls' legs giving up on her after a day of riding (guess who hehe), but we had a ton of fun feasting on lobsters, prawns, scallops and my new favourite Fowey River oysters! These are local oysters harvested in Cornwall, and they are the most delicious I have ever tasted! What stands them apart is their meaty and creamy as opposed to slimy texture and sweetness = yummy!

Day 2 was all about food. Having stuffed our faces on yummy home made English breakfast, we took a train to Falmouth in search of Rick Stein's resto. Bela is a big fan of his so it was her idea...best idea ever as it turned out! We spent a couple of hours doing more girly things such as shopping for souvenirs, getting really excited about all the cat themed things they have in Cornwall (me anyways), trying Cornish cream ice cream (extra fatty and extra good) and fudge, taking pix by the harbour and making matching friendship bracelets!

The lunch at Rick Stein's was unbelievable. We managed to try just about every dish on the menu and loved every single bite. It was just the freshest, best quality seafood ranging from simple classic dishes to interesting experimental flavours. The desserts were something else as well with the custard apple tart being the highlight. Yum to the millionth degree! I made a promise to myself to come back to Cornwall with Mark just to do a tour of Rick's restos (which there are 5 I believe), and I would recommend the same to everyone!

Here is a recap of our tasty and girly adventures in pix :) Thank you for a wonderful weekend of laughs, girly bonding time and unforgettable memories! xo
